Default Recommendation for Body Shop?

Hello

I purchased the Shine Front Fenders for my S2K a week ago and brought it to a body shop in SF to get it installed and painted.

Prior to purchasing tho I asked the representative at Shine to see how the fitment was. He said it was 9/10 and was supposedly better than the ASM fitment so I went for it.

I went to the body shop to see how the fitment was today cause my car was ready to be picked up........I dont know if the body shop doesnt know how to install aftermarket parts or if the fenders just dont fit but there are huge gaps around the front headlights and the fenders dont even match up with the OEM bumper. It looks horrible!

Does anyone know of a body shop in the Bay Area that specializes or can fix the gap issues. I love my S2K to death and I hate seeing how ugly it looks! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

ASM has really good fitment & high quality body parts; so the statement that Shine is saying their fitment is supposedly better than ASM is hilarious. Ive seen some threads on the board from people that needed to fill in certain areas on replica items around the headlights area to correct fitment. Perhaps this might be something your shop could look in to.

Also, if your car was in any kind of collision/repair, this can affect the way body parts mount.

Thanks for the advice. Contacted Shine about the fitment issue today and they recommended a shop for me to go to in Milpitas called Crown Auto? Was never in any kind of collision so that wouldn't be a problem. Hopefully they will do a better job in terms of installing the fenders. Otherwise I'll drive down to their body shop in Socal to get it fixed.....

Can you provide any pictures of the fitment by any chance?

Usually I hear good things about Shine auto as an imitation company. I've seen a lot of their front bumpers and they all have looked perfect. I have seen some ASM parts that did not fit 100% perfectly and some Shine parts that fit like OEM. It probably is just luck of the draw.

Yeah. Here are some pictures I took from the body shop.

Here's the gap on the passenger side.

Heres the gap for the headlights and bumper.

At this point I'm just trying to get all the lines to match and fix the gaps

I'm surprised they're not offering you a guarantee or anything. The gaps between the headlights and bumper looks better than what I expected. The passenger side gap looks really off. I'm curious to hear what a body shop can do to fix the fitment issues.

The gap between the door & fender is acceptable. Between the bumper & the fender; hopefully there is more room to adjust. Its a little wavy but I believe they should be able to fill in the fender with material to meet with the bumper. Its not as bad as I originally thought it would be for a replica item.

Update 5/15:

Contacted Ken from Shine Auto and told him about the problem.

All I have to say is he's a super nice guy. I asked him if he would send me another set of fenders since the ones I received were somewhat defective. I even offered to send the ones I already installed back to him...but he told me to keep it.

Just waiting for the new fenders to come in and have them repainted again.

Will post pics as soon as its done.....

But in the meantime...I have a pair of OEM Fenders for sale with the clear side diffusers and a pair of painted GPW Shine ASM Front Fenders (somewhat defective) for sale as well
