Recent pick ups...
So as some of you might know my s2k is now gone. I've always like 240sx's and after owning a s13, I always wanted to build and track a s14. The g/f also has a s14 so I do get to drive it occasionally which is always fun . So when the s2k was gone I was looking for a clean, stock, unmolested s14 and that was pretty hard. Price range I was looking at was $3-5k, which had plenty but with minor mods. After about 2 weeks I finally found what I wanted (more or less) for a fraction of what I wanted to spend.
First Pick Up - Purchased on 4/11/09:
'96 Nissan 240sx (s14) Base - $1200
Emerald Green / Black
235k
5spd
Clean Title
Goods:
-Stock
-5speed
-Clean Title
-Cheap
Bads:
-Paint isn't the best
-Clutch slips
-No radio, A/C, or heat
-Missing radio, shifter bezels, climate control bezel is broken
-Have to do smog (giving me problems, darn OBDII)
His and Hers:
Overall, I'm very happy with the car. Replacing the clutch and smog cost about $500 for parts and labor which was a great price (Thanks Joey!). So with $1700 I have a running, stock s14 with a brand new clutch couldn't have bought a s13 in better condition.
Second Pick Up - Purchased 4/29/09:
So I decided to take a look on craigslist Tuesday morning and found this post. The owner was asking $900obo so I sent an email and left my number. I took a look at the car later that night and put down $200 deposit and payed the remaining last night. Had the car towed to my house today which cost $94 from Alameda to San Francisco.
'95 Nissan 240sx (s14) Base - $650
Gold / Black
89k
Automatic
Clean Title
Goods:
-VERY CHEAP!
-89k on motor
-Parts car
-Complete Interior
-Still runs
-Exterior is super clean / Garaged for ~2 years
Bads:
-Automatic
-Has not been registered since '06
-Blown headgasket
-Overheats in about 10mins of driving
-Interior is a bit dirty
-Minor dings on exterior
Plans are to change all the gaskets and swap this KA into my green one, part it out, and sell it as a rolling shell/project car. I'm sure I can push JUST the chassis for $500, which is fine with me since the g/f and I are taking parts off of it.
As much as I miss the s2000, I am having TONS of fun with these s14's. I honestly feel like a kid in a candy store when searching/buying for parts since everything is so cheap and plentiful
