i didn't know you can get a citation for spectating. that sucks. haha

how long is the car impounded for if you're caught racing? seems like a money pit waiting to happen... and i'm sure insurance would love to hear the details.
Yeah, spectators are supposedly encouraging it, rather than reporting the illegal activity to authorities.

Your car is impounded for a minimum of 30 days, as it is "involved in an active investigation".

And you automatically lose your license, so it would be a while before you'd need to worry about insurance rates.

I don't get it? If they just stop everyone driving down a street. and then pass out spectators tickets, how does that hold up in court?

EDIT: Never mind. I kept watching. They video taped them.

Also, don't they need a warrant to check out your car? Because it isn't 'open'(your hood)

I think they do need a warrant to check your car, but when your car racing or spectating, the best thing to do is to comply with the PoPo.

I didn't watch the whole video as it was just too long and boring, but was anyone actually caught racing? It looks like they were just put up a road block and presumed everyone was racing.

I watched the entire video....a racer did acknowledge on the video footage that he did "race." I think it was a sting operation and the police probably saw them racing.

Yup.

A few cars were towed away, but many drove off after being ticketed.

No need for a warrant anymore. some law got past a while back but then again I'm not sure if that's for Milpitas only or if it's throughout CA or SCC?

Here's what I read a while back.

Some new laws for this year..
