Default Quick insurance question

As I previously mentioned I was involved in a minor fender bender last night. I was stationary and I was hit in the front bumper.

Now, I have to report this in 48 hours but we both decided to settle it without getting our insurance company involved. However, the other party is going on vacation for a week and I can not get this taken care of till then.

Is there a possibility that I can get screwed if she suddenly does not want to pay up after a week? If I don't report this in 48 hours am I not able to file a claim with my insurance company?

Thanks,

Bryan

Is there any reason why you're not going through the insurance. Sounds like a scam to me

It just seemed like it would be easier and quicker this way.

Minor damage so cash settlement would appear to have been quicker.

Plus, this happened right outside the other party's house so they have nowhere to run.

i had a similar case with my previous car. I was parked and someone backed into me. rather than goin through insurance, i took the guys info, told him i'd get an estimate on the damage, and have him pay me cash. he agreed cuz he didn't want his insurance effected in any way. i got $1000 for the damage, brought the car to a guy i knew who did body work, he fixed it for $100, i kept the remaining $900

maybe a bit risky but i knew where this guys mom worked, so that sorta assured me he would keep his word, good luck!

when u decided to handle without insurance. you took a risk..

by law you're suppose to report any incident to the insurance company. unless you have full coverage, you're pretty much s.o.l

since the guy went on vacation. he could dissappear for a while and by the time he comes back. u can't do anything anymore. he can claim that he paid u and u can't do jack about it. why did u settle without insurance stepping in
