Actually, I believe contractors can get unemployment... but they do have to show that they are actively looking for a new job of course. In this type of situation, it would be the consulting firm that pays for the unemployment benefits.

There's nothing special about contracting, you can get a w2 and benefits and everything. No license required.

you dont get unemployment if you quit. i thought it was only if you were fired.

yeah, the general concencus was that people who work for 5 days and then quit won't get unemployment but this person still is filing anyway. More paperwork crap for me to do

I work for the government and I know for sure that your employee will NOT be eligible for unemployment through the EDD program.
