I can see the first one being true if the tanks were above ground but I think they're far enough below ground that the temperature of the tank might only change by a few degrees. A few degrees isn't going to give you anything.

but but, don't less gas in the tank mean less weight your car has to pull or is that too insignificant to consider? nice info btw. just when i got home from filling up the tank to beat morning traffic

Here is another tip:
There is excess gasoline left in the hose after you have filled up. Tilt the hose upwards to get the rest of it. Make sure your tank is NOT FULL otherwise it will spill.
