from the lotus's camera it looked like hella space to pass thru, from miatas camera it looked like they did body contact

Its a bad ass sequential; around $15K or more in parts for a full system. The gears on those boxes are well designed & built.
Here is a cheap version for like $7K; its not a full sequential though as manual clutch engagement is still necessary & releasing of the throttle.
