I've heard that you will only get a ticket if they get both the front and back plates on camera... if they only get your back plate, that supposedly means you were far enough over the intersection to be considered "legal"... dunno how valid that is, though. ^^

They capture both the front end and back end of your car to not only show plates, but show the position of your car being past the intersection line(s), your face, and the streetlight being red. So I don't think it matters if they captured your front plates as long as it shows the front end of your car crossing the lines when the light turned red.
