Thumbs down Perseid Meteor Shower - 8/11/09

Last year, I recall that Vu & a few other people went up to Mt.Hamilton to check out a meteor shower. Im not sure if this is the same annual one, but supposedly tonight & tomorrow night between the hours of midnight - 5am is when the meteor shower is expected.

Yahoo News

Anyone planning on checking this out tonight?

Here is last year's event that Vu put together: HERE

I'm unsure if I'm going this year or not, but what time does everyone want to do this? Get there early, like at 11am and stay a few hours or get there late, like last year, around 3am and stay until the sun comes up? I think the best viewing is later in the evening.
Im down to head there around 11pm & check it out til whenever really.

As for the drive, after reading a few comments from some of the members, I would agree on Alum Rock being a better route to Mt.Hamilton over Quimby.

We can all meet at TapX in San Jose off Capitol/Silvercreek around 9:30-11pm, then jump on the 101N-680N exit Alum Rock. TapX will be closed by 10pm tonight, so if you want boba, come sooner.

Someone who is familiar with the area we are viewing should lead the caravan once we are on Alum Rock.

Meet Spot:

9:30-11pm

Tapioca Express
3005 Silver Creek
San Jose, CA 95121

Ooo! I want to go! Last night I had just fiished a calaveras run with some friends and I saw two meteors in the sky. Could have been a precursor to tonight?

If someone chimes in with a destination, we'll head over there tonight.

I think Wed after midnight is supposed to be the best time, not tonight.
