Paint Chip Fix

Paint Chip Fix
My acura MDX has some pretty bad paint chips (from shopping carts/door dings). And they are fat ass chips, not dinky ones.
I used some dealership OEM touch up paint to cover the damage, but do I need anything else to "seal" it? I am worried that it will keep chipping more paint if I leave it, or the car's metal will rust over time.
Do i need any protectant/clearcoat paint? Thanks in advance!

Usually touch up paints come with a clear that goes over the color coat. If you didn't get it, go back to the dealership and get the clear they sell, it's the same stuff on your car, and you should use that to stay consistent. To seal the paint/clear, after it dries over the course of a day or two, you can put a paint sealant on the car to seal not only the chip, but also the entire paint!

Do you know if this clear coat touch up paint will protect the rest of the surrounding paint's integrity? Last thing I need is the car's paint to chip and chip away over the course of a couple years.

You can buy touch up paint pens at www.handaassesories.com. The ball point pen is mch easier and cleaner to touch up the chip. After about 12 hours or so you can clay bar the touched up chip to smooth down the paint to run evenly with the cars finish.

I could be wrong, but every single touch up paint kit I've seen come with the color coat, and then another bottle of just clear. Read your bottle, the clear could be in already mixed in. I've never seen a rock chip that has been touched up on my car chip away again just to show through, nor have I seen the chip spread. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen, but I've never seen it personally.
You only put the clear touch up paint, where you touched up, the rest of the paint already has the clear on it and shouldn't need any work. But, that's only if you keep the shopping carts away! .
