Synthetic shouldn't be used until the rings seat. Something in the synthetic blend prevents them from seating properly.

I think I can clear up some of the uncertainty.
2005 Owner's Manual p100 (break-in period): Do not change the oil until the scheduled maintenance time. (That's 5000 or 7500 miles depending on which maintenance schedule you are on.)
p132 (adding engine oil): You may use synthetic motor oil...(no restrictions specified on when.)
I could find no mention of synthetic oil or the break-in period in the 2000-2005 Honda S2000 factory service manual.
I don't have access to TSBs, but a google search didn't turn anything up.
I use Redline 10W30 synthetic motor oil. I used it for the first oil change at 5,000 miles (severe duty schedule).

i hear about the 10,000 mile wait before synthetics....
lots of word on it.....and for the same reason, piston rings need to set in...
can anyone back this up with some validity?
