OEM Oil Pan price and replacement?
Anyone know how much an OEM oil pan cost and how hard it is to replace?
I did my oil change this past weekend and I noticed that there was some oil spots on my garage floor the other day. I thought maybe the drain bolt had come loose but when I tried to tighten it, a piece of the oil pan where the bolt threads into broke off and all the oil started dripping out. I'm towing my S to Menlo tomorrow for them to check out but the service rep said that the warranty will only cover it if it was due to parts failure and not from over torque or mis-thread. Menlo has done all the TSBs on my S and I've always been happy with their service.
I've always done my own maintenance on my cars so I know it wasn't from a mis-thread and I always torque to spec. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen. Anyone else ever experience this? Hopefully, warranty will cover it but I'd like to get some idea of what I'm getting into before I take it to the shop. Any input or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all,
-Gil
