Default In Oakland, Police & Sheriff, What's The Diff?

Both agencies have big time chip on their shoulders pulling people over for dropping things off near or parallel to bus stops. What's the difference between the two depts???

Oakland PD cruises the city, sheriff manages the county responsibilities which include courts, jails, and when contracted for some law enforcement in particular areas that do not have their own police dept.

there's a lot of other little things that fall into the lap of the sheriffs versus the PD, and there's a few things that they share too. hope you get the picture.

if you did this on geary or lincoln or irving or something, even US Park Police could give you a ticket. I think their jurisdiction also covers areas within a mile of the park.

there's a lot of overlap sometimes. I'm not sure, but I think just about any uniformed peace officer including a DA can pull you over for suspected DUI.

i wonder what the uniform for a DA is. i guess uniformed is the wrong word. blah
