New shoes for the car, need advise
Hi all, my rear OEM AP1 tires are pretty much down to the bars, I am debating what I should do.
I am running with ES100 all the way around on stock 16" AP1 rims. Should I:
1) Replace the back tires with another pair of ES100
2) Replace with a sticker set of tires for the 16", if so what model
3) Get a set of used AP2 rims with good tires
4) Order some OEM looking after market rims with new tires
?
I am the type of guy who likes to keep the car OEM looking. I live in SF, and travel between SF - SJ regularly, so I can't lower my car to make the rims look good. So 17" is pretty much the biggest I would go. My fav set of rims are the Prodrive GC-07, cuz they look very OEM.
At first I didn't like the look of the AP1 rims, but like everything else, the longer you look at one thing, the more you like it. So the looks kinda grew on me. I still much prefer AP2-v1 rims, but I haven't seen anything that is in good condition for a decent price. Any set of after market rims that you guys would recommend? The Prodrive is definitely out of my $1000 or so budget. But then again, I can just replace the back tires and call it a day.
TIA.

I would either get V1 ap2 rims or just replace the tires as an easy solution! Personally I like having the car looking close to OEM, with slight minor tweaks. I'll be getting new wheels for the car but they will be silver as well so that they don't stand out too much.

i was in the same situation as you a couple months ago. you need to ask yourself, how much are you willing to spend? new es100 rears would be the cheapest route. if you want stickier tires, i would suggest bridgestone re-01r. if your budget is $1000, prodrives are definately out of the question.
i went with prodrives/bridgestone re-01r and i couldn't be happier.
