New S2K owner! Need advice for street parking in SF
Hi all, I just got a S2K after many years. Unfortunately my parking situation is sticky, I live in the heart of the mission district and street parking is a no-no, especially in the mission. I have an escooter I can travel around on that will fit in the car, so I was looking for your expertise in where you'd recommend to park the car. Feel free to PM me so the thieves lurking around on the forum won't know where to go...but any recommendations on safety measures I can add would be helpful.
Right now I have on the list:
- Hidden kill switch
- Quick release steering wheel
- Full coverage insurance
- Black car cover
- Park it up in the hills where the homeless don't go
- Lo Jack or alarm system or both?

I wouldn't park my S2000 daily outside in SF just saying. I would sell the car and get an S2000 when you have a proper place to store it.
I don't thinking doing any of that will stop huge door dings; people touching or messing with the car. The soft top getting ripped. I wouldn't even dream of owning a hardtop if you park outside. You will not be owning it long.
Get a car that can live outside in the street of SF. The S2000 is not it.

the quick release steering wheel is probably the better option since it might stop a break in if they can see that the steering wheel is already missing. i also would probably park near Noe Valley or Dolores Heights but not near Dolores Park though. one more thing you should look into is a getting some seat bolt locks since S2K seats are sought after.
