Hello S2K Forum. I am happy to say that I purchased a 2007 Silverstone on black with 28k miles this past Friday. It comes to me stock with the exception of the Honda Security system. I have been reading some of the threads on upgrades including those on exhaust, tires and airintake/airbox mods and I have a few questions:

1. Exhaust/Air box mods – It seems that the major thought on aftermarket exhaust systems and air box mods is that they do not provide a huge performance gain and that the exhaust tone and loudness is greatly increased with these mods. Although I am not really that interested in making my exhaust louder, I am interested in making the exhaust tone deeper and have read that a way to do this with out a big increase in decibels is to remove the resonator. With the resonator removed, I have not found any comments on this mod and the changes it could make on the exhaust drone in the 3-5k rpm cruising range. Any thoughts?
2. Tires – My car came with the F&R stock RE050 tires. The previous owner did not drive very aggressive and the front tires have lots of tread left. With 28k on the rear, they will need to be replaced soon. It seems that many recommend going with the 225/45 – 255/40 change when replacing tires. In regards to the car’s handling, will it be greatly affected if I make the tire size change to the rear with out changing the front or should I change both front and rear at the same time?
3. Recommendations – I live in San Jose and would appreciate recommendations on reputable shops for repair/service, bodywork/paint, a shop to remove the resonator(depending on comments from the forum on the cruising exhaust drone), suspension work, audio systems, etc……

This forum is a great resource for all S2K owners and I have enjoyed reading on various topics. I plan to make it to a Bay Area meeting soon. I am looking to buy a factory/OEM hardtop if any one has one they like to sell.

Thanks,

Patrick

welcome Patrick!! for the tires... from what i've heard... if you go 225 and 255 you will have a problem with hydroplaning more... with 215 and 255, you might understeer more.... hope that helps out for you

hydroplaning?

Welcome to the family Patrick!

Hmm...for exhaust I suggest to try and get a used CR exhaust. It has a deeper tone compared to regular stock exhaust. (goodluck finding one tho)...

Whiteflash pretty much mentioned the go
to shops and people...

Hope to see you sometime at the Friday night meets and other events.

The absolute first mod you should get are seatlocks. PM Kodokan_4 for details if his seat lock thread isn't already on the first page of the S2000 Talk forum.

And welcome to the club!

EDIT: Ok, I take it back. Replace those damned tires a.s.a.p. The drizzle we've been having this week will sneak up on you if you aren't careful.

we don't live in Seattle so do you really want to buy a tire for 5-10 days at most out of the year?
