Default New to Club - Just got an 02 and have a question!

Thanks to this S2KI club, I have found more information than anyone can possibly find on S2K. I just picked up my 02 black on black from Barber Honda for MSRP. Awesome dealership and zero hassles. As I was driving back from Bakerfield to Sunnyvale, I notice that the transmission or clutch whines or buzz pretty loud on acceleration. Almost sounds like a bad bearing somewhere. I read the many post about deceleration whines or buzz, but not during acceleration. Since mine is a 02, the updated clutch and tranny TSB should be implemented already. But what gives? Is it the new clutch that is making all the noise? I have a 90 Miata and it is dead quiet. Then again, I can prob get use to the whine since my the tranny in my 240Z isn't exactly quiet either.

Can't wait until the 600 miles break-in is over and I look forward to meeting some of you around the bay.

Thanks for the all help & info,
Herbert

congrats on the new baby! Yeah, these cars are a bit loud, but you may want to meet up with other owners just in case to confirm if it is truly something unusual. You are probably almost done breaking the car in and so VTECing should be just around the corner. May want to check it out before then. Good luck and see you on the road!

I have an 02 as well. The drive train does make a lot of noise, but I hear nothing clearly specific on acceleration. You'll probably need to ride in another 02 to find out if your noise is out of the ordinary.

Thanks Mike for ordering such an awesome car! Now, I don't have to wait until April or May for the one I ordered at Merced Honda. oh and thanks for the reply to my email. Ralph Tinoco was the internet sales person that took care of this whole deal. He was very professional and awesome to work with.

ZMONSTA
Glad to hear you had a good experience with Ralph Tinoco. When I dealt with him it wasn't so good. He would not return my deposit, my calls, or my e-mail. I had to call his boss to get a fire lighted under his butt, before he gave me my deposit back. Glad to hear he cleaned up his act.
