it's about time the started enforcing this!

keep in mind this is my personnel perspective because i'm the one being exposed on the side of the road trying to work on an emergency seen, when idiots fly bye. i have almost been hit, and i've had a brother dragged about 100 yards from a car that did not slow down or move over to the farther lane.

It's kind of ignorant to say that it's just another way for the state to make money.

it's a way to keep emergency personnel ALIVE. It should be common sense that if a police officer, fire truck, ambulance, tow truck, whatever were to be pulled over, just MOVE if you can. Why put others at risk 'cause you want to get a close look or just not paying attention/not caring?

I'm glad they're enforcing it and handing out big $$ tickets. It'll make people more aware.

Dude I thought this was common sense. This should be basic practice for everyone.

Same should apply for stranded vehicles, people merging etc.

I've been doing this even though I didn't know that it was a law...

Sorry if I sounded ignorant by saying that just wanted to make money.it's kinda true...they need money.

It's just really common sense to move over or slow down before you hit the people on the emergency lane.

No worries. I'm happy to take money from the people who cannot follow the rules to pay for a system. If everyone followed the rules, we would need CHP out there all the time.

While, yes, they do need to make money. I highly doubt it's sole motivator was to make money. If I worked in any service that required me to be on the side of the road.. I'd be happy this law came in to effect.

But you are right, it SHOULD be common sense... problem is, it's not.

I've had to change a tire at 10pm and my back literally 6 inches from the side of the road on 680N and big rigs, cars, everything were just flying past me. Doesn't take a lot to make a ****-up at 65mph...

i had a question while being at work:
so if it was a 25zone (school zone) and say there was an emergency vehicle on the side, does that mean you have to go 5mph? or does it not make a difference if you're going that slow?

I'd personally slow to about 15. At 15, it's hard to hit anything that doesn't run right at you.

This is really for people who go by police and pay no attention to them.
