I talked to Comptech and they charge $350 to switch the gear.
They also offer 20% on all Honda parts used for this diff (bearing, seal ..) They already switched 10 of them and they do it well.

Now, with Rick's announcement of 4.56 gear, let's get some update on this question: any Bay Area shops to get the diff replaced? I know that sebrings2k is happy with Elk Grove's work. Did anyone get it done at Comptech? Do you have to get their diff housing to get them do it? Anyone went to the shop near Lafayette? The shop in L.A. area? The one in Monterey?
I know some of you are more interested in this now. Come on, let's help to find a local shop for this.

Elk Grove Honda installed my gears 1 week prior to the 03 Sac2Kdays.
The gears are holding up just fine and definatly have made my driving experience much more enoyable.
The following link is an impression I wrote up some time ago...

I paid $560.00 for the installation at the time, and they provide all shims and extra stuff needed for the installation.
You just need to bring the gears.
I do recommend bringing some synthetic gear oil to reduce any chance of Honda filling it up with the wrong stuff.
After I installed my gears I was in search of a local installer just in case something went wrong with mine.
After asking many people on other forums (Mazda Miata/RX-7s) which share similar rear differentials from our cars I came up with these 2 shops.
I have no personal experience with these shops so I cannot recommend them with full confidence. However, other people have spoke very highly of them so it might be worth a try.
