need shop to install diff
Hi, I'm hopeful that someone can recommend a responsible - anal-retentive even - shop or mechanic to install a set of 4.44's in my 02.
Tho I live in Monterey, I don't mind driving to a good shop. (Drove to Berkeley for years to get my BMWs serviced.)
Any recommendations for a shop in the South Bay, San Jose, or Monterey Bay areas? I have no great gripe against my local Honda dealership, but my experience is that their work is uninspired, average at best.
Thanks very much!

I'm going to a 4x4 shop in San Francisco. I was running around and 2 trany shops told me about this one shop in SF with a machine to adjust the gears. They don't do it by hand like all the other shops.
I check for the address tonight.

I checked all my bussines cards and could not find the card.
I have to drive to the shop again and ask.
The difference is (what the guy told me) that the pinion and ring are 100 % aligned. If they do it per hand like in this picture :
Here the way any Honda shop is doing it:

Hi everyone I've been away from the net since last Friday, thanks for the input. I may have a line on someone here in Monterey - at least I hope so; this guy is legendary - but just in case, I'd sure appreciate it if anyone has a recommendation for a shop in our area that has a highly competent person to install the 4.44s. Thanks!

No quote yet. I'm not even sure if he'll do the job - he doesn't need the money. He's a master machinist and an incredible talent but - although he seems to really like my S - is a Euro/American car purist who tends to look down his nose at Japanese product. So we'll see. No rush anyway, I still don't have the gearset in my hands.
I'll keep you posted, please do likewise for me.
