wow a '55? I'm still looking for a '54 Pontiac. At least in '55 they were using V8s and 12volt systems (I think)

 

We found a FANTASTIC Mechanic - Craig Hammond at Smothers European in Santa Rosa - he's the lead tech at that Mercedes dealer. Can't say enough good things about him and his work!

I am currently looking for a mechanic to do a prepurchase inspection in Santa Rosa, CA. Different from OP of this thread, it would be for an S2000. A specialist would be ideal, but others is fine as well.

Hey man, do you live in the North Bay or are you just coming to check out the car? I live here in Santa Rosa, but unfortunately I haven't found a specialist here. I'm too paranoid about my S to trust it to anyone yet who doesn't do other S2000's regularly. So I go all the way down to Milpitas to Blacktrax if I need work on the S that I can't do. There's also Joey in South San Francisco (screen name, ItS2Krazy).

I also have a beater Civic, and the place I've been taking it to lately (only the last two times I needed work done) is a place called "Peet's Garage" on Cleveland in Santa Rosa. I have no complaints about them, but again I've only gone there twice so take this recommendation with a grain of salt. Two other people recommended them to me, which is why I went there in the first place. They also have a really good rep on Yelp:

Hopefully someone else will chime in with other ideas for you. If there's a good S2000 mechanic around here, I'd love to know. You could also try asking in this thread as there are a few other people from the North Bay subscribed to the thread who might see it:

As you can see from that thread, there isn't too big of an S2ki presence here in the North Bay and I'm not sure where they're taking their cars.

Thanks for the quick replies. I actually live in San Jose. I did hear the name, Joey, in another similar thread that I searched, but that was the extent of the discussion over there. So thanks for the contact info.

I have heard of Blacktrax mentioned on this forum before. I live near them, so if I found a more local S2k then I was planning to go there.

I'll ask the seller, but unless I'm lucky enough to meet them in another area, then it looks like I won't find a specialist in Santa Rosa and won't have the leeway to bring the S2k to one. So thank you for the generic garage recommendations. Though not ideal, they should suit my needs well enough.
