I will be inspecting my first S in Pleasant Hill in a day. I was wondering if anybody knows of an exceptional independant shop where I could get a pre-purchase inspection and compression test performed.

Complete Auto Works in Concord is a very good shop! The guy who owns the shop knows what he's doing.

I would say take it to Blacktrax in Milpitas, but that is a bit of drive from Pleasant Hill.
