Default Need parts advice

I've been considering a fair amount of mods and need your advice on my thoughts on the pros/cons of each one. I know I'd get more response if I posted this up on the main forums or each part specific forum, but most will tell me to search, and I've done that to some conclusion.....but would like your thoughts first.

1. AEM CAI - v1 or v2? Comptech would be cool but I'm not worried about hydrolock, as I've had a lot of experience w/ AEM in my prelude. Is v2 worth the extra money/labor (i hear you have to cut more). All in all, I'm mostly getting it for the sound and that little bit of oomph, so the gains from the v2 over the v1 may be negligible...any suggestions? Injen/K&N seem to be the same as the AEM, so I'm just going for the most reputable brand here.

2. TEIN Flex vs. Koni/GC coilovers vs. Bilstein PSS9. These are probably all over the map as far as quality, type of ride etc...but what I'm looking for is definitely an adjustable drop that has the capability of a good suspension setup for autocrossing mainly now, and eventually the track. I know a lot of people are fans of the non-jdm stuff and I did have the gc/koni combo on the prelude...but it doesn't seem like a lot of people go for ground controls here. Is there a reason why? Bilstein is probably the highest I'd go, but is it streetable and worth it? GC + Koni is probably no more than $900, Tein Flex (new) is probably around $1300 and Bilstein PSS9 right now is $1400 shipped. I just don't want to compromise the everyday driving experience or hurt the handling in any way.

3. Comptech vs. Fujitsubo vs. T1R Sparrow. As far as I know, the T1R Sparrow is the only one that is ready available to bolt onto an AP2, while the comptech and fujitsubo both don't seem to have part #'s for the AP2. I'm looking for a decently quiet exhaust and have reservations about the Fujitsubo's large mufflers and small tips that somewhat mar the look of it to me.

4. Are there ANY lips in the works for the AP2 aside from the existing OEM, mastergrade cf, & mugen splitter? I love the OEM but I think it can be done a little bit better. Anyone have word on this?

If any of you have any of the above parts or have had experience w/ them, please provide your feedback here. I'd appreciate it too if someone w/ the aforementioned exhausts can meet up sometime for me to listen to it.

1. AEM V1 or V2 or Comptech Icebox...i think they are all good choices.

2. I would go with the bilstein cause koni i think are ghetto, and tein's aren't good for U.S Roads.

3. I would go with Comptech...only because it's state legal...hyperpm got bust with the fuji's from the cops lasy year and made him go to the state ref to get all his mods fixed...and i dunno anything about T1R. they make comptech's for ap2...and i dont think there is much of a difference from the ap1 and ap2 model just the hangers are a little different but any muffler shop should be able to work around it.

4. nope mastergrade and mugen are the only ones that make lips for for AP2 bumpers. U can get a after market full bumper.

5. Made I'm bored at work. I should get some work done.

5.

BigMeanBull: thx for your feedback. Hmm, yeah I remember hyperpm telling me about his experience w/ that fix-it ticket, but I didn't know that the Comptech was legal. I mostly do all the installations myself, so hopefully there's a comptech out for an AP2. I'd go w/ a full replacement bumper, but fitment issues scare me. Unless I go authentic, which is a ton of money, I probably wouldn't settle for anything less.

jasonw: livermore may be a bit far for me to go, but if i can't find anyone else with a dremel (anything else needed besides the usual socket set?) then I may swing by your way. thanks for the offer!

I believe there...problem child had a comptech exhaust on his AP2...I dunno if that was made for a AP1 or AP2 but either way it fit...if you want to be sure call comptech.

nope just need some socket tools...u dont even have to dremmel that plastic undertray you can just remove it.

I don't have any experience with the TEIN Flex, but I think they would be a good street setup.

The Koni/GC setup is very popular for good reason. Its a very good setup for the price (less than 1g). A lot of people race with this setup.

The PSS9 I think is probably the best setup of the 3 mentioned, but probably the most expensive. It really depends on what you are looking to get out of them.

of the three, i'd go with the PSS9's. large piston monotubes

i've wasted money on the other two.
