need new tires - decent shops to go to
for stock ap2 wheels.. 215/45 and 245/40
looking @falken 415/sumitomo htr z 3/kumho ecsta xs
all except falken are available @tirerack - but I better bring my business to local shop
plus would need to install and balance so hoping for bundle deal..
suggestions? both tire choice(street use) and place to buy/install
/thanks

I've had very little to complain about with my experience with my Sumitomo HRTZ III's, and treat me perfectly on a daily basis. The only complaint I possibly could have was in AutoX, but I'm not sure if it's actually the tire or not.
9/10 (-1 cause they're not star specs)

Mac probably didn't read your request for street use or the stock sizes. The RS3 are my top choice, but the wear rating is at 140 (I'm still working on finding out the ultimate life of these tires in both track and street use), and the sizes are still quite limited. Hankook's warehouse is also very disorganized, so I have to bring in tires in advance.
HTR ZIII by far is a great tire for the price, I've seen quite a few non-s2k drivers go for 30k+ miles on them. A mini cooper driver has even used them on the track maybe 3 times this year with standard street use is maybe at the midway mark with 12k miles. They're also the least expensive with a wear rating is 300 AA A.
Hope that helps. I would vote for Orlando @ Auto Innovations for the shop to do the work (if he's close to you) or Joey. Orlando's been quite appreciative of working on tires bought either through him or brought in from anywhere else. He's got a great attitude and has helped me out plenty. Mac introduced me to him a couple years ago.

Stock also has a treadwear rating of 140, the RS3's are a street tire and anything other than an re050 215 is going to be wider so why not go a bit wider? Just because the numbers match doesn't mean the width is the same.
As for the width on the fronts, the thread width is 6.7" on the OEM and 8" on the RS-3. The HTR-Z III has a thread with of 7.6", so Mac's statement is justified. Not really too much of a difference going to the 225 on the RS-3.
Biggest differences for you then are the $ (which is nearly a $25/tire differential, so $100 total) and mileage.
Oh yeah, RS-3 over Z1's any day of the week. I think Mac will at least agree to that.
