Need new rear tires
Hi Guys:
I now need new rear tires, use the car as daly driver in bay area only no tahoe trips. Looking for good price and location to buy. I did a search of the tire forum and read the postings on bay area tires from October. What are the listers sugestions?

What I do is order them from Tirerack.com and have them delivered to wherever I'm gonna install the tires. I did some shopping around before from physical tire stores and compared it to Tirerack and they came out the cheapest, even with the shipping charge included.
My s2k is a daily driver also and I've been pretty happy with Kumho tires. They last longer than SO-2's, much cheaper, but have less performance.

I did what CLOUD9000 suggested above, and got the tires installed at Wheel Works. However, once I was at the shop, I was told that they would have price matched any price Tire Rack gave them. I suppose you can try this at other shops as well...

Well I went with wheel works S03,s as the so2 don''t seem to be available anymore and are very expensive. the s03s wern't cheep either. $475. out the door. perhaps i could have spent less but the fronts didn't need to be replaced so I stayed awayfrom differient types.
If I had more time I might have chosen other types.

wow $475 is a lot! costco doesn't stock s02 but they do stock s03 (order through their website). $185 + tax, includes installation, disposal, etc. I'm definitely not looking forward to replacing my rears. according to tirerack, $259 for re050 rears plus delivery and install.

I've also gone the Tire Rack route for my last 4 sets of tires. Costco is a little bit cheaper when they have promotions, but as has been mentioned, they don't stock the S02. You'd be pretty hard pressed to beat Tire Rack prices, even after you factor in shipping costs.
I personally like the S02 the best. For budget tires that last longer, I've gone through two sets of the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712, and have currently been on the Bridgestone Fuzion ZRi for the last 15k miles. So far, I like the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 marginally better.

But I would say if you get them to match TireRack INCLUDING sales tax, and add $15 or so, AND they can guarantee you the correct S02 (TireRack is good at getting the right tire...)... If they can do all that, it's a pretty good deal. You will have to pay for mounting/balancing/disposal anyway.
