Thorin, Dwalin, Balin, Fili, Kili, Nori, Dori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur

And of course, if you have a big server, it gets named Gandalf.

Not as good as everyone else suggestions, but I usually name most of the computers here at work using domestic and international cities names.

Here .. in naming quite a few machines, these are the groups of hostnames that we've done:

Magic The Gathering cards (only did Legends for start, but ran out there Dakkon, Caleria, Zephyr, etc)
Zodiac signs (Pisces, scorpio, cancer etc. )
cartoon character names (Sully, Kitty, Boo... etc.)
cars

We were going to start using old arcade games (Asteroids, Defender, Pacman etc.) but alas... we aren't going to be naming very many machines in the future.

Good luck

Please don't do StarTrek. I've just finished getting rid of the domain Federation with all of the crap that goes with it when you name stuff all cute. Let's see I had Enterpise_C, Enterpise_D, Enterpise_E, Voyager, DS9, Warf, Spock, Kirk, Bones and a few others what a PITA to remember what is what. I guess the guy before me had a reason for it his name was Kirk James and he did have a sense of humor the sales people's machines were various Ferengi and the mail server was O'Hura and one of the firewalls was Warf.

oh... in case it wasn't clear, we do somewhat of a separation for all the different environments here..

one environment is all colors, one is the cartoon characters, one is the zodiac signs... that kinda thing.. so when someoen mentions a machine name, there is somewhat a knowledge/background of what the machine is used for or what group is using it.

btw helpdesk did some amusing stuff with some people here... a guy named Mohammed Ali has a machine "knockout" and another guy who's last name was Rambo has a machine named "Firstblood" or something like that.

Movie titles woudn't be so bad depending if you allow spaces in your hostnames.
