Ok guys, I was wondering if anybody can help me out here. I bought a used car on craigslist and the family moved out. It only had a rear plate and I got a fix-it ticket (while parked) to get a front plate... but it didn't come with one! The DMV says new plates (I would have to get rid of my old remaining one) would take 4-8 weeks but I only have 21 days to fix it. What should I do? Does anyone know any cop that would sign it off? Can I just contest the ticket saying I just got the car and am waiting for plates?

 

Can you get a printout from the DMV showing that a new plate has been requested? If so im sure that would be sufficient for an officer to sign off.

 

You can call the clerks office and ask for an extension. They will usually give you a 1 month extension.

 

this ones sounds legit. if all things fail go talk to chp directly... bring your papers too..

see in my case i crashed my car and i have a pending fix it violation with it. same thing, no front plate.

what i did is i brought my papers with me and went to chp. the cop asked for pictures of the car so i took some. and voila. fix it ticket is now officially ten bucks
