For the best buy, pick color F or G and clarity of VS1 or VSS2. Anything better and you can't tell unless you have a trained eye and anything worse starts to make a difference.

If you want baller status, then get a bigger diamond and sacrifice some color and clarity.

there is absolutely no need to get a D-F color or flawless diamond.....
I've seen a ton of diamonds and really it needs to get into J or K range to even discern a tint of yellow with the naked eye...and that's only with a D right next to it.

And I barely can make out inclusions on VS2 stones with a 10X loupe, even SI's make good diamond rings with imperceptible inclusions to the naked eye.

The key is CUT!!!

oh and i don't know if i'd be buying a house in the bay area at this time....i'm thinking housing price stagnation is best case scenario with 20% price drops if we get into recessions

for one i am married, house "in the bay area", two new cars, pretty loose budget and i would never dream of buying a ring of that value at my current wealth ...but thats my opinion..at this stage in my life...only your making at least uhhh say 150k plus a year id say yeah...

also being a realtor for ten years and building homes for 6 years...i have seen many examples of how to do it right and how to do wrong..

look ahead
for one what is the plan for the future...wedding is just one ****in day in your life...period! so then the next day after your need a place to sleep and eat for the rest of you and your darlings years... no not ****in renting. im talkin house...if you have one already good for you...job security....transportation quality......money in da bank....emergency needs

these are just toppings of what really matters....for you and your honey when planning your future

i have constantly seen couples spend 25-80k on weddings and then don't have shit to buy a house and the couple is all bent out of shape cuz they been riding all big wille style since the wedding but now its reality check time.

how i did it

bought my house,,completely remodeled it..got married...bought my cars..and now just do what ever...and just maintain....this is what i have seen from many succesful couples do in my years

true live today die tommorrow but chances you won't die

Like I said, Blue Nile is a rip off.

It's a bit daunting that boys know more about this stuff than I do!
It's called Google-ing.

So what if you GF is small and have really small fingers and do you think a 5/6 carat dimond ring is going to look good???
Note to self - make sure I marry a girl with skinny fingers.
