logically i'd think that would best go toward a down payment on a house, but i guess logic doesn't apply here, but ego might

If the girl won't marry you for just a cracker jack ring then she isn't worth marrying If she'd say yes if you gave her a 50K ring but would say no if you gaver her a plastic ring you're marrying the wrong girl.

$25k IMO is way too much to be spending on a wedding ring, especially this early in your life. A $10k ring is more than enough for most women.

Even $10k is on the high end.

If the girl asks for a $10-25k ring, I say dump the gold digger. Unless you are super rich.

one of my co-workers just blew $9300 on a ring, but at least he works and his fiancee works too, and neither of them have any kids i believe. so i think it worked out to be about 3 months net income

Well, I am no gold digger, but I might question my significant other's true feelings if he offered me a plastic ring and I knew he could afford me a real ring. I don't need something super duper fancy and huge - but I do want something that's sincere. Plastic doesn't seem ... sincere. Unless it has sentimental value attached to it.

I think there is a guy in sf that is in the biz. I think it is Fusiondynamics. I hope that was really supposed to be $2.5k!
