Default Need an apartment in a good neighborhood?

I'm moving out (of my parents house) finally and I want to find an apartment in a good neighborhood at a low cost. 1 bedroom. There are SOOO many apartment complexes in the san jose area that I just have no idea where to find a decent one. There are some websites that have ratings and reviews for complexes, but, I think I'll ask u guys for some advice as well.

I'd like to stay around the $1000/month range if possible.
Thanks for any help I receive.

Not that I have much experience in apartments, since I've only lived in 2 (the first one only for 5 days. )... but I recommend Avalon apartments. I live in an Avalon community in mountain view, and I like their professional attitude and service.

No, I don't work for them.

I've been eyeing some of the avalon places. look pretty good, except for the price. After spending the whole day searching for apartments...you really do get what u pay for. dammit...sucks to be a college student.

For what it's worth, I have been living at an Avalon Community for 2.5 years. They are indeed pricey, and you do get a high level of service commensurate with the rent that you pay.
