I don't like the fact that Nasa runs groups 1/2 and 3/4 together at Sears. That just puts way too many people on a track where someone wipes out everytime. There has been a wrecked car every single time I've run at Sears. I also don't like sharing the track with race cars. I prefer to run at events where people are driving their own street cars if I am driving my street car...

Rubbing is racing, and I ain't racing and don't want rubbin.

I've been to over a dozen NASA events in the last two years and I've enjoyed going to all of them. I enjoy actually being on the track with people that know how to drive in traffic and don't get spooked. Contact is not allowed in any HPDE groups.

Normally, NASA does not run groups 3&4 together. They are only doing it for this one event because of Hyperfest. In return, they are going to make the groups smaller.

NASA does not charge you extra if you want an instructor like other groups. I've never had a problem getting an instructor if I wanted one.

In all fairness, I've only been to NASA and SCCA Thunderhill HPDE events. I would like to try a Speedventure track day sometime in the future.

David,
I've run w/ NASA since 97. Outside of actual races, I've never had body contact in HPDE events. A lot of the racers are my friends, so trust is not much of an issue, though you never know.
Grouping 1-2 and 3-4 is not typical - most of the time they run separately.
Infineon has been crowding up lately, but all other tracks are ok.
I think the instructors are pretty descent too. To be a NASA instructor, they have to have either an SCCA or NASA competition license(or eq.) w/ a good number of races under their belt.
Don't care too much for the "clique-ish" atmosphere @ SV.
