my s2k is wrecked
hi everyone
last night as i was heading down to SF from north, a STUPID FUUKING truck crashed into my car in the rear, i was hospitalized for the night and diagnosed with concussion. no serious injury discovered at this point.
i went to see my s2k, the rear is pretty much smashed in. i don't know if it can be totaled or what not.
does anyone has any knowledge about this sort of situation? what do i do with my car? if it's totaled, do they insurance company usually compensate and pay as much as the car worth? who has the ownership after the car is totaled ?
is it beneficial for me if the car is totaled or not?
thanks guys.
be careful with truck, this is the 3rd time in a year my car was hit by trucks. so be aware.

Contrary to popular belief, the car is not the insurance companies. It's either yours, or your lien holders. They will try and bargain with you to give you the lowest value it's worth as "you have no other option." When, in fact, you do. If you don't like the offer, tell them to write you a check for the amount they estimate the repairs to cost (or the value if it's totaled), and you get to keep the car.
From there you can then pocket the cash, part the car out, and start fresh. Or you can fix it if it's fixable. But the car is not legally theirs until you sign the papers.
