my pc got an std
ok, so i know there are some it people here and i need some help, my labtop was infected with a backdoor trojan, and my mcaffee security has cleaned it;however, when im online it keeps opening a page for some virus protection cleaner.
so what i need is a recomendation where i can take it to get it cleaned, or if someone here can help me out (willing to pay of course, for your time, unless you would prefer dinner ) any how just wanted to get some help.

No need to reformat, that should be last resort.
Could also be spyware that's causing the pop-up.
Download Adware-SE or Spybot, update the defs and see if it picks up anything.
I would recommend using HiJackthis to clean the registry in addition to the software above, but you could potentially fack up something if you don't know what you're doing.

I can help you reformat it if you want but u will need to backup your files first. Are you using firefox as you web browser? I hope u r.
I'm sure AVG will be able to fix it. One of my friends had a similar virus and when you open IE, it takes you to a phony virus scanner page.
if you don't know what you're doing.
im better at breaking things then attempting to fix them

i know what you have, i had this few months ago.
DL adware, update it then run full scan. it should be gone after that.

If you bring it to the meet tomorrow, I'll fix it for you.
Most of the well written malware out these days will not be deleted by any of the programs mentioned above. I usually have to hack it out of the system manually.
