Look on craigslist.com for roommate wanted ads.

$200K/yr is NOT luxurious. After taxes, you take home like $130K.
and definitively not a nice home.

to the OP, $600/mon is going to limit the choices. I suggest moving closer to work, get a scooter and use the gas saving to give the rent more breathing room.

with 130k after tax, you can buy million dollars home/3 car garage fill with toys.

craigslist.org is probably your best bet. i agree with the cupertino / sunnyvale / mtn view choice. you could also try roommates.com, but craigslist is where you would be most likely to find something.

mtn view - rent has definitely gone up in this area thanks to google
sunnyvale - is alright, but i would advise staying away from the neighbourhood right by 101/237 freeways
cupertino - you may be able to find something here, but it is also pricey because its a nicer neighbourhood and there are many students who go to de anza college that rent in this area

you could also try looking around santa clara and the area of san jose thats right by the cupertino border as well..

Seriously, 130K net puts you @ ~ 5K leftover every month on a 30 year mortgage on a $1.0M home @ 6.2%.
