Moving to S.F. and not sure whether to keep the S.
Hey Guys,
Thanks in advance for your input. It is greatly appreciated!
So I am moving to S.F. in little over a month and I am not sure whether to keep my S2000. A couple of my friends have had their cars broken into in the "nicer" neighborhoods of the city. Because I will not be living in one of the "nicer" neighborhoods, I assume the odds of my car being broken into are pretty high. Moreover, I am very concerned that the top might be ripped open to gain access into the car.
I love the s2000. I have owned an AP1 and and right now I have an AP2. I traded in my AP1 for an S4. About a year later I was back in the S -I detested the transmission of the S4.
I don't want to get rid of the car, but at the same time I don't want to pay to have my top replaced. I was considering a trade for 06 RSX Type S or Civic Si Sedan. Sigh....
It would be great if some of the Nor-Cal guys give me some input on what I should do....

I'm assuming you don't have a garage? Personally, I wouldn't worry any more about my S than any other car (in this situation). If a thief wants to break into your car, he'll just smash your window or pick your lock which is no different if you have a convertible or not. I would make sure you have full coverage insurance (if you don't already) and invest in some wheel and seat locks. The only thing that would make me consider trading in the S when moving to SF would be thinking about driving up and down those hills with a manual transmission...

Hi, I have an 06 S2000, just got it. I live in Alameda which is just across the bay from S.F. and there are at least 4 S2000s that I know of I think you will be fine. If your planning on living in San Francisco parking can be a pain and if your park on the street you will get door dings scratches etc. The hills are a bit tough but I lived in S.F for 4 years with a car with a manual transmission and you get used to it. If you need a Realtor I would be glad to help you. Good luck with the move and keep the S2000

Only keep it if you have a garage.
When you park on the street, make sure there is nothing inside the car to steal. Most of the time, it's crackheads, not professionals.
I'm probably going to sell mine since it's just not important enough to me anymore. Especially when you consider cost of parking + insurance + depreciation, tickets, etc...
