Default Moving to the Bay Area! (San Ramon)

Moving up from socal because of a new job. Hi everyone!

My tires are almost gone, and I figure I should get some new ones appropriate for the weather up there. What do you guys use?

Oh, and I need a new mechanic, too. Who's good?

I have Dunlop Star Specs right now and I am very pleased.

Unless you're going to drive it to Tahoe or something there's no reason why your tire choice needs to be any different in the Bay Area compared to SoCal. Just don't expect massive grip if it's 35 degrees.

Welcome!

I live in San pablo, and work in San Ramon. I'm running Sumitomo HRTZIII's, they definitely outperform my RE050's in every single way. But they're not as good as star specs. However I'm clocked in at about 7k+ miles on them and I can hardly see any wear

I agree, the only problem I have with mines are the life on them... They out performed my old hankook rs2 I would have to say.. If your car is a DD I would recommend the bf goodrich kdw2 one of the best summer tires I've drove on so far, sticky and last longer then others that perform the same..

The standard answer for a mechanic would be Joey (itS2Krazy), and he's one of the best around

He's a bit of a drive from San Ramon, he's in SSF. But it's worth the drive just to kick it with fellow s2kiers. I drive from Fremont for an Oil change

I live there too

Really any tires will be fine (within reason obviously) the weather is mild. I've got Federal 595ss tires from a local member's shop which are good. As espelir said, joey is the mechanic of choice. For general maintenance and stuff, I do my own work, but for anything major I'd probably go see the man
