I was thinking about switching to the 0w-40 (from 15w-50) at my next oil change, based on Tom & Andrie's experience.

So Tom and Andrie use Mobil 1 0w40 and not another brand of 0w40? If they're not having problems then I don't see how I would lol

Do you have an AP1 or AP2? That might be the difference.. His is an 05. If you have an AP1 you may not get the same results.

Yes, me, Tom and Chris now uses Mobil1 0W-40. I've been using it for 2 oil change and it has been great. I change my oil at 5000 miles and Tom at 2500 miles.

Thanks for the reply! About how many track events do you do in those miles?

I use mobil 1 0w40 for my AP2, ran 3 track days and some street driving. Oil was changed at 2000 miles. No oil burning.

Tom's car majority is track mile. The only time we use the car is to drive from and to the track. About half the time, we tow. I don't believe in cheap insurance. To change oil too soon, is just a waste of money IMHO. Tracking is expensive enough, any savings is greatly appreciated. On my race car that never see the street I change it once a year. That's about 2000-2500 track miles.

I just did Laguna with 6500 miles on it and I have 68000 on the car and it's only seen Amsoil. The drive this passed weekend was on that same oil, tranny and diff.

My Blackstone results have always been great on the S and Camry.

The Camry has almost 260,000 miles on it, the first 30k miles were Quaker and castrol dyno oil then redline for roughly 70k then Amsoil after that.

I've never been a fan of Mobil one, although it has gotten better in the past few years. I still think they have a ways to go especially seeing that most people with TCT issues are running Mobil 1.

that's funny. I was never a fan of Mobil 1 either. Neither am I a fan of Amsoil. I don't really have favorite as far as oil goes. However, Mobil 1 offers the cheapest 0w-40 and easy to find as almost every O'Reilly or Walmart carry them.
