Default Mobil 10w40 for track use

Wondering if anyone has used Mobil 1 0w40 for tracking. Is it a bad idea even in these hotter summer months? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It's the euro formula and the same stuff the GTR uses. I've not personally used it on the track.

We've been running it in our Legacy GT Limited for 3500 miles so far and the oil is looking really good.

Tom aka Tunerplayground runs it in his car.. He has an AP2 and it runs well with it.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like I don't have anything to worry about.

I ran that on my ap1 with 100k for about 3 oil changes... I uses the Mobil 1 high mileage 10w40 and surprisingly I noticed a bit of oil burning... I'd say .5 quart every 1500 miles. I also tracked with it twice and both times I did burn about half a quart with accumulated miles of 1000-2000 miles. My last oil change before I sold the car I used Mobil 1 extended performance 10w30. And guess what? No oil burning, even with 1 track day. 2000 miles in the oil change, with a full track day.. No problems.. I did hit turn 3 too hard and saw a bunch of blue smoke coming out.. However I was told its common due to the s2000 PVC baffle system.. Anywho... Check the level right afterwards.. And it's still fine.. Just my experience.. Every oil change I fill up 5.25 quarts exactly.

5.25? I thought it was 4.5?

I keep hearing good things about Amsoil, and Castrol Edge with oil burning but now you make me kind of want to try the extended performance Mobil 1. The regular synthetic burned off fairly fast for me though.

Im looking at using the standard 0w40 which happens to be the "european formula". I wonder how different this is from the high mileage stuff you used

Look them up and see what the temperture ratings are. That's usually what separates the differents in performance oil, As far as high mileage oil though I have no idea whats done to it..

Only used mobile 1 for one oil change ever and I swear it burnt faster than any other oil I've ever used.

high mileage is the same 'thin' oil with more aditives.

european formula is a different oil all together. Thicker, better heat profile and not built around the idea of better MPG.
