The dealer has no responisbility for fixing anything but manufacturer defects. There are many documented cases of this kind of thing not being covered.
I wouldn't worry about it though.

Im also still wondering if by the time i looked down at the tach it was at the high 7's.
Since the 06 ECU is different from other AP2s i wonder if it stores anything?

be ready to pay some serious money because to find cracks like that. you have to take the retainers off. when you take just the valve cover off. you only see the top portion of the retainer. not the bottom like in this picture. it requires some labor time to take these retainers.
