the way you made it seem. by over revving. it seems ok. i dont think you damaged anything. i mean. people take the engine all the way up to 8 all the time.

it depends on what really happened i guess. how high did you really go? maybe you passed the 8000 mark and by the time you glanced down it was around 7.

in my opinion. i wouldnt worry too much.

over revving by shifting down does not have any protection by ECU. You can have it tested but since your car is 06, wait till something goes wrong and fix it by warranty.

I just remember looking down at the tach with the clutch out half way in second, feeling the lunge, seeing the tach pretty much at the borderline of flashing with the speedometer showing 73mph.
73 mph in 2nd gear is 10,400 rpm's.

Warranty is for manufacturer defects. That is not the same as an over-rev leading to broken retainers, leading to a dropped valve. And many dealers are aware of how this happens. Fixing retainers before anything breaks is much cheaper.

This is incorrect. If he cracked a retainer, he might have no symptoms until he drops a valve one day.

You best bet is to have a shop/dealer check your retainers and make sure there are no cracks and the valves are still fully seated.
Yep, it could drive perfectly for months with no symptoms.. worth checkin out.

I don't know how this shift happens so much, isnt 4th just straight down?

I might need to get mine check out also..... can this be a DIY to check for cracks in the retainers?
