Default Mines Road / Mt Hamilton Drive - 10/25/15

Hi guys,

Sorry for the short notice, but I'm planning on a drive for Mines Rd to the James Lick Observatory. Just wanted to know if anyone would like to go along for the drive, just add to the list below. It'll probably start early around 9am, get back to San Jose in the afternoon.

First meet-up spot 9am:
Panera Bread
2650 Mowry Ave, Fremont, CA 94538

Leaving at 9:30am, driving up Highway 84 to Livermore, up to the beginning of Mines Road.

From there we will drive all the way down to the restaurant The Junction, where we will stop for lunch.

After that we will head to the James Lick Observatory, stop there for a break, then head back to San Jose to finish near Alum Rock exit.

Hope to see you guys at the drive!

just a quick heads up, I was up there about two weeks ago and san antonio valley road (the portion that leads up to the observatory) was going rough some construction. lots of loose gravel. Haven't been up there since then so they might have finished by now.

Thanks, I'm sure we'll take it easy at that portion of the trip.

I can confirm. I spun around there and almost went into a ravine. Pretty scary moment.

Where might we start from? I might be interested if I don't have to drive too far from San Jose (I don't know where Mines rd is)

We will meet up in Fremont, drive up to Livermore and it'll start from there going back to San Jose, near Alum Rock.

I'm totally down if I can find seats in time.

How spirited is this run going to be? I was planning on going out along the peninsula but always wanted to hit the observatory.

Is it ok for non-s2's to join?
