Default Menlo Honda...good choice for service?

I've hit 5k with my '02 I'm looking to get my first service done as well as getting them to check out the transmissiong buzz problem. I was reading about Menlo honda, both good and bad, and wanted to see if anybody has had any further experiences with them.

Are there other dealerships that I should consider based on their good reputation?

I did my 15k mile service with them. No complaints here.

Don't do it. Got to Hopkins. I speak from experience. I went there because they were recommended by board members. Nice people, but sloppy mechanics.

I would highly recommend them. The service manager Chuck has always done right by me and has gone the extra mile on more than a couple of occasions. Consider yourself lucky you live so close... I travel all the way from Santa Cruz just to go there.

I agree, I live right down the street too, so I am lucky. They are great people there. Ask for Chuck.

Ditto. Been to Hopkins 3-4 times now and they've been pretty good. Good luck.

Another vote for Menlo. They can do the transmission TSB in less than a day. I think Asura's problem was related to modifications he made to his car. If you're just going in for a service/warranty work, then you can't do any better than Menlo.

Thanks everybody for the input! Looks like people are advocating Hopkins or Menlo although more in favor of Menlo than against. One's close to work and one's close to home so I guess I can make a choice maybe based on convenience! I really appreciate everybody writing back on this issue!

Actually, it was on more than one occasion. I am giving my honest opinion. I don't fell that I was treated fairly.

Chain of events regarding the incident pll is referring to:

1) I installed SS brakelines, R4S pads and ATE Dot 4 brake fluid.
2) I didn't think I had all the air out of the lines so I went to Menlo to have the brakes pressure bled.
3) They said my entire brake system was contaminated because I used non-OEM brake fluid.
(the problem was related to the rear piston not being lined up)
4) I told Chuck the ATE is recommended on the board as are the pads and lines AND should not cause any problems because Dot 3 and 4 fluids are compatible.
5) Chuck charged me $500 to put the stock fluid, pads, and lines back. He also said the calipers, lines, master cylinder, prop valve and abs unit were contaminated by the brake fluid and in need of replacement. He then said, I might be able to get it covered under warranty. I'll call you when the warranty guy gets here and he can decide. I never got a call back.
6) I drove my car away with a lesson learned. This honda dealer knows less about this car and basic things (such as brake fluid compatibility) than the S2Ki board. I know alot of members have had good experiences with Menlo. I know if I was thinking of taking my car to a dealer, I would want to hear all the feedback I could good, bad, or ugly.

I would hate to see another post like this one. Just my 0.02 p
