If we're always on-topic and formal with each other, how would we build up that "famiree" feeling?

Excessive post whoring does belong in the corner. But some light banter and fooling around shouldn't be frowned upon.

I'm with you. But then who decides when it is too much? With a volunteer site people are left to manage themselves unless it becomes caustic.

This situation is exactly like smoking. Everyone (mostly) is free to smoke. It irritates the people who don't smoke, but it can't be stopped. Some people are nice and smoke away from others and try to be conscientious. Others don't care... It would be nice if they did though.

Normally I would laugh, but this is not the most appropriate time / place for that.

I don't have a problem with conversing a bit but when your posting just to have the most posts in that topic thread then your not conversing. You even said you were going to stop before a certain someone got upset? That doen't sound very nice does it? I think you know what I'm talking about...

Posting a huge smiley in a topic that you don't even contribute to is unnecessary.
My wife just explained to me who you are. We met on the skaags run. I think I was behind you at the end of the first pass. Anyway I didn't think that was you. I hope you see that the majority don't like the big smiley and I really don't mind it in a topic that your actually contributing to.

I just think that it's gone a bit too far.

If I were aiming to have the most posts in the thread, I'd be in the corner.

I do, however, like to joke around and try to keep things light. Of course, I usually keep the more silly stuff to the corner. If someone gets offended or asks me to stop, then I will. It's not in my nature to spite people. But I think you know that

i really dont think whoring has been a big problem on any of the bay area threads. the usual life of a thread is about 3 -5 days of activity. usually people just lose interest in them before any whoring as its real effects.

imo, closing threads is more of a negative than a positive. i rather see a little whoring than to have all discussion abruptly stopped.
