Ahhh you may be right. I'm still thinking 2001. Back then if you went Linux or any flavor of Linux, the price to maintain as well as co-lo a Linux server was $$$. In Asia (Bangkok, Singapore, Hongkong) I know for sure that Linux servers cost more to maintain than XT.

maintanence is not an issue when building an infrastructure, licensing is,
no licensing is need for freeware based servers.
