Default Make History Together? Tech Help Actually...

For the past year I've been tossing and turning with this .com idea. It's one of those hey why didn't I think of that idea which many of my trusted friends say should be a hit! The only problem is I haven't been able to find a programmer to help me build it. The candidate should be experienced with HTML, ASP, and maybe C, C++. I've posted on Craigslist and have been approached by many "out of towners" who claim they can build it but I truly believe the success of the site would require someone here, physically in the Bay Area who I intend to make as my partner. Would anyone be interested in doing a start up with me? If so PM me. We can work out the remuneration etc. Signing of an NDA will be required. OK hope to hear from you soon!

Does it need to be ASP? What about PHP, CGI, or mod_perl?... you know, Linux-based...

Ev, while I probably don't have the time available now, I'm more than willing to help you interview/filter candidates.

Well, I don't see why they would be, especially since the software is free... And last time I checked there were way more active Apache programers compared to IIS (MS) programers. So you have a larger talent pool to choose from.

Software is a very small part of the overall cost of ownership. Support cost far outway software costs. A recent IDC report said that TCO for a Windows box was less than Linux in your standard office environment. However in web based application, Linux has a slightly smaller TCO. While there may be more Apache programmers than IIS, there are a significant more number of Windows admins than Linux, but for your specific purpose, you are probably better off going with Jason's recommendation and using Linux/Apache as there is less maintenance requirements for web based application than standard office environment based application.
