Default Maint. reqd. light!

ok so the maintanence required light pops up every 4k miles...well right after i bought the car i changed the oil which i guess threw it off it's 4k cycle and now that the light is blinking when i turn the car on i would love for it to disapear. The problem is....i followed the instructions in the manual(turn key to HOLD, press the distance traveled reset button, then turn car on, when light stops blinking let go of distance traveled button. I did all these but then when i turn my s2k on the next time....low and behold there's that damn little light blinking again! Anyone had this problem before? if so what the crap do i needa do?

Wait until you get a solid Maint. Req'd Light. Then repeat the above procedure from the manual.

First of all, the way the manual tells you how to reset the light is not correct. Have a look here for the right way:

2nd, changing your oil does not affect the light. It is only a reminder that is measured by mileage since the last "RESET". It's like pushing a stopwatch.
