Daniel, inquire about getting a refund for the deposit, that would be a place to start. That way you aren't stuck with that looming on your decision. I think your best bet is trying to slang your car, and getting a new one since this OP wants what you have.
i lose the deposit if i dont follow through with the purchase we already discussed before i gave the deposit, thats not a factor i reflect though for the desicion

@op talk to your friends boss an find out what exactly he is looking for as far as engine and tranny involved in the purchase and let me know please
kinda curious, you give someone a deposit? if thats for the engine, kindly ask for it to get it back.

Yeah, I agree, just try to ask for it back if you end up in a position to sell the car. Worst case scenario is that you have to eat the deposit, but hopefully then can give it back if you decide not to buy. The deposit is only holding that engine for another 2 weeks, so they should be flexible. If they refuse to give back deposit, you can ask for partial refund?

OP: get in touch with your contact and come up with a $ number, this is a possible win-win for everyone.

ok, well this is the info that I have from him. He's looking for a clean title, gutted or not, with or without an engine.
I guess mostly a clean shell and title.
