I'm looking into buying a SA00 helmet so I can join an HPDE event soon enough. Is there any shops in or around the bay area that sells them? I thought of buying it on the web but I'd rather try one on before I buy.

 

Go to your nearest motorcycle store. They will have a great selection for you to try on.

I can't necessarily help with peninsula shops, but if you are ever out in Hayward on Mission Blvd you will see about 5 different motorcycle shops... Yamaha/Suzuki... Kawasaki... My Kawasaki dealer on Mission has about 50 or so helmets on display.

I think they have Snell 05 helmets out now??? Why get an 00... ask the store sales guy. No sense in buying a helmet you can't use that much sooner!

Yeah motorcycle shop. Or online. I bought mine online from some place in florida and got a good deal.

 

The 05's are out. If you don't plan on doing any real racing, just get a motorcycle helmet or a karting helmet. They are much cheaper. Only difference is that the car helmets are fireproof (nomex lined)
