Local shops that sell helmets?
I'm looking for an SA2010 helmet but i'm reluctant to buy one off the internet because I have no idea how it will actually fit. Do you guys know of any shops around here that sell helmets? So far I found Livermore Performance but that's about it.

These guys are in Lafayette/Orinda: http://www.ioportracing.com/
The guy is really helpful and knowledgeable, but you'll want to call in advance because it's pretty much in the dude's house.
There's also wine country motorsports at sonoma.

Seconded for Ken at I/O Port. He's a NASA tech inspector, so he knows what's what with safety. He's also a really nice guy, and will talk with you about what you might need, if you ask. He spent a good while with my boyfriend, chatting about the best seat brace/harness bar location/general seat and harness information.
There's also Competition Safety Gear in Campbell, if you're up for the drive.

Ioport is cool but he isn't always there and make sure you call before you go. Last time I went he was out of town
Wine country at Sonoma is cool. Lots of selection and if you plan to buy that day they usually have it in stock

Can I get away with using an M rated helmet for most track days around here? Do most groups even care if its an SA helmet or not? I'm looking at signing up with Nasa for Thunderhill in April and they say they require an SA1995 or greater. Do they actually check people's helmets?
