Hmm this might be a little late, already mentioned or off topic but i keep driving pass a blue CR for sale on el camino real between san mateo and belmont. In one of those car lots by the train tracks.

Takes a while to clear 20K @ the bank 
if that's the case, and he has good standing at the bank and a long history, he may want to walk in and talk to a manager to see if they can release the funds early. Large checks like that are considered higher risk than check items like payroll or social security.
